Hi, I am Anya!

I'm the owner and grower behind Anya's Homestead, a small market farm based in Ellendale, Delaware.

I started Anya's Homestead in 2023 during my senior year of high school. At the time, I had planned to become a teacher, but after returning to school following the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself questioning that path. Feeling a little lost, I turned to one of my teachers and coaches for advice. He encouraged me to think about what truly excited me and suggested I consider starting my own business.

That conversation changed everything.

What began as a dream of one day selling at farmers markets quickly became a reality. I purchased my business license, grew my first vegetables, and sold them wholesale to the market where I was working at the time. While that first season was small, it planted the seed for something much bigger.

The following year, I built a small roadside farm stand where I sold fresh eggs. Over the winter, I decided to fully commit to growing the business. After reaching out to farmers markets across Kent and Sussex County, I was accepted into the Historic Lewes Farmers Market. Today, I'm proud to be returning for another season, offering a variety of seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs, and pasture-raised eggs to my community.

Although many people assume I come from a multigenerational farming family because I started so young, that isn't my story. My love for agriculture began in my grandfather's garden, where I spent countless summers learning and growing alongside him. Later, my involvement in FFA deepened that passion and introduced me to the many opportunities within agriculture. Those experiences inspired me to build something of my own. One seed, one season, and one lesson at a time.

When I'm not in the garden, you'll usually find me spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, spending time at the beach, or enjoying the beauty of coastal Delaware.



About the Farm

Anya's Homestead is a small, diversified market farm located in Ellendale, Delaware. While my farm is spread across two nearby properties, every season is focused on producing high-quality food using thoughtful, sustainable practices.

My market garden occupies about a quarter of an acre, where I grow a diverse selection of seasonal vegetables, herbs, flowers, and specialty crops for local farmers markets. Just down the road, our pasture is home to my laying hens, who are raised with plenty of space to forage and express their natural behaviors.

I believe healthy food begins with healthy soil. That's why we focus on regenerative growing practices, including minimizing soil disturbance, building soil health, and avoiding synthetic herbicides and pesticides. I also believe animals deserve to be raised with care and respect, and I take great pride in providing our hens with a healthy, pasture-based environment.

Whether you're visiting me at the farmers market, cooking one of my seasonal recipes, or simply following along online, I am grateful you've chosen to be part of our journey. For me, farming is about more than growing food. It's about cultivating community, celebrating the seasons, and creating something meaningful that brings people a little closer to where their food comes from.
